In keeping with its educational mission, the University of Balamand established the Faculty of Medicine in the year 2000 in association with the Saint George Hospital University Medical Center. Today, our medical school has earned national acclaim through its dynamic curriculum and devoted faculty. We endeavor to provide excellence in medical education, patient care, and basic and clinical research.
With the rapid changes occurring in academic medicine, we ensure that our curriculum remains at the forefront of medical education.
First-year medical students find themselves in clinical settings receiving training on history-taking, physical examination, and they participate in a variety of ambulatory experiences, a practice that will be carried over into the second-year in the form of the Clinical Skills Module. In the clinical years, students are trained by competent faculty to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for the practice of medicine but also to promote the professional, ethical, and responsible character expected from a physician.
Upon graduation, our students can either pursue clinical training in our various residency and fellowship programs under the supervision and guidance of the Saint George Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education, or seek training in US or European medical institutions. As we continue to grow, we make sure that we foster in our graduates a firm commitment to clinical competence, delivery of high-quality care to all people, and uncompromising ethical principles.
